abstract = {We show the morphological transition in the speed distribution for identical particles in a 1D infinite well. By including the relativistic dispersion relation in numerical calculations for particles following Gentile statistics, we recover the Maxwell-J{\"u}ttner distribution. Our results show that the transition to the relativistic case occurs at lower critical temperature for fermions than for bosons. For systems with intermediate statistics, this transition occurs at temperatures between these two limits.},

abstract = {We quantify the diversity of populations simulated using the Penna model with an entropy of genetic diversity measure by Pan et al. When selection is removed by increasing the resistance to disease, populations result to a zero-steady state diversity. While for cases with selection, greater genetic diversity was achieved by delaying reproduction. It was also found that populations with genetic diversity tend to have increased average lifespan and resilience to epidemics.},

abstract = {We find greater genetic diversity in a Penna model when the mutation threshold is less than the reproductive age, for the case of individuals reproducing only once in their lifetime. This greater diversity is obtained at the cost of decreased saturation population. An increased mean lifespan was obtained for the population with greater genetic diversity. We interpret this longer lifespan as a benefit that supports the idea that it is better to have greater genetic diversity.},

A change in the environment, in the form of an epidemic, is simulated by a lowering of the mutation threshold.
