SanD Interns 2024
SanD hosted several groups of student interns in 2024. University of the Philippines Los Baños BS Applied Physics students Danaxiane Marpuri, John Don Mollasgo, and Val Samuya performed system maintenance tasks and completed software and hardware upgrades for the SanD computing cluster. They learned to set up a Slurm task scheduler to manage computing resources.
A second set of interns from the University of Santo Tomas worked in SanD to complete their curricular OJT requirements. Tobey Calayo completed several programming tasks and Rochean Paolo Junio studied the computational modeling of materials from first principles. Reginald Rex Dupaya and Januel Borgy Vinarao repaired some SanD computing nodes back to working order, while catching up on their research interests on path integrals and open quantum systems.
John Joshua Delovino, Rita Malleon, and Jerrold Kyler Berana from the Philippine Science High School (Diliman) also participated in the Science Immersion Program SIP 2024. After being matched with SanD, they were assigned computational tasks on crystallography, classical mechanics, and stochastic physics.
