Analysis of transient heat conduction on aluminum and iron contacts

Abstract

In this paper, transient temperature profiles for material configurations involving Al-Fe layers in contact with continuous and single pulse heat sources are obtained. A stable and convergent solution is achieved by imposing a suitable Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy (CFL) condition. The magnitude of the effective thermal conductivity of composite materials as compared to their homogeneous counterparts is demonstrated to rise as the number of contacts increases.
